Residents living in Park Homes are missing out on financial support for a more fuel efficient boiler because the Government's Warm Front scheme does not fund boilers fuelled by LPG (Liquid Petroleum Gas).

Cllr Sally Morgan was contacted by Mr and Mrs Small, who own the Moorland Park site at Bovey Tracey, because Mrs Small was concerned that some of her elderly residents had been told they could not take advantage of the scheme which also includes grants for insulation.

Sally said: ''It would be very expensive to extend the natural gas pipeline and there is no room for oil tanks. It would seem sensible to allow residents to upgrade their boilers and use LPG. When I rang Warm Front the operator told me that only natural gas, electricity and oil were approved for the grant and not LPG - even he seemed to think that was ridiculous. I intend to take up this issue with Warm Front and the responsible government department as a large number of potentially vulnerable people, who this scheme is supposed to support, are missing out.''
